What better way to countdown to Christmas than with this adorable DIY advent calendar complete with woodland creatures, pretty pine trees, and full of scrumptious chocolates? Let’s show you how simple it’s to make your own advent calendar. And don’t forget to watch our video tutorial at the bottom of this post!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Fake snow
- Toy animals and trees (12 of each)
- 24 boxes
- Paint brushes
- Hot glue gun
- Tacky glue
- Marker
Step one is to assemble your 24 boxes and fill them with your favorite candies. When you’ve done that, paint your woodland animals on your paint colour of selection (we adored gold) and set your animals apart to dry. While your creatures are drying, use a marker to write a number on every box from 1 through 24. Use a hot glue gun to adhere your critters and trees onto your own box lids in no particular order.
Now that your box figurines are adorned with animals and trees, it is time for the last step. Use a paintbrush to add a layer of sticky glue on the box lid round the trees and animals. Then simply stick your imitation snow onto the box lid. Lastly, we decided to sprinkle some fake snow on our toy trees to make them seem a little more festive. That is it! Now you’re all set to start counting down to Christmas.
