October 10th is National Chess Day! We’re marking this day with a DIY dinosaur chess set job! Let us face it, dinos are so sexy right now — but really, any figures will get the job done. All you need is a little paint to make a customized look. So grab your favourite characters and get to painting to have the maximum first chess place around! And don’t forget to discuss how you’re celebrating today by tagging #NationalChessDay and #beaucoupfavors.
Here Is What you’ll need:
- Acrylic paint in two colours
- Paintbrush
- Painters tape
- 32 dinosaur figures (16 per player)
- Wood panel
Use your painters tape to section off 64 separate squares onto your wood panel. Once completed, paint your timber plank so that every other square is exactly the same color and let dry. Next up is painting your own dinosaurs. You need 16 dinosaurs of every color and adhering to the principles of chess — need eight”pawns”, two”bishops”, two”knights”, two”rooks”, one”queen”, and one”king” (in this instance that could mean eight triceratopses, two velociraptors, 1 stegosaurus, etc.). Make sure you have the correct dinosaurs for each team, paint, let dry, and you are good to go!
