The Baby Shower Alternative Guide: Sip, and Gender Reveals, Sprinkles & See’s

Baby showers are not the only means to celebrate your small one, and we have three, more informal baby shower options that you learn about! Whether you would like to host an occasion to announce the sex of your baby, welcome your second (or third, or fourth) child, or collect your loved ones to meet your newborn for the first time, there is a type of party for you. Have a look at our mini guide and tips below!

Gender Reveal:

  • A party with close family and friends to announce the sex of your baby.

  • First things first, if you want to be surprised at your gender reveal party also, have your doctor write boy or girl on a bit of paper and stick it in an envelope for you. Give the envelope to the friend or relative who is planning the party for you.
  • If you are planning the party, keep in mind a simple, neutral decor scheme is the way to go. Just add a few bits of blue and pink!
  • To get your guests socialized, request them to vote for what they think the sex of the baby is. This can be done by sticking votes in a jar, sporting a pink or blue necklace, and many different ways.
  • There are also a lot of interesting ways to reveal the gender of the baby, like having blue or pink balloons released from a box, blue or pink confetti coming from a pinata, or even a blue or pink surprise satisfying when guests bite into a cupcake.
  • For topics, try something like She or He? , What Will It Affect? , touches of It’s a Boy or It’s a Girl, or even simply mixing and matching pink and blue decoration.

Sprinkle:

  • A casual, more modest version of a traditional baby shower to celebrate mom’s second baby.

  • Sprinkles are often shorter than traditional baby showers, lasting only a couple hours in comparison with an entire afternoon.
  • Usually, only close family members and friends are encouraged and unlike conventional baby showers, males are welcome to attend.
  • When sending out invites for your sprinkle, it’s considerate to not include a gift registry. If a person wishes to get you a present, they will, but gifts shouldn’t be expected.
  • If somebody does inquire about presents, it is polite to mention necessities like diapers or wipes.
  • Keep the menu mild — think sandwiches and snacks.
  • The occasion itself doesn’t have to be lavishly decorated. Minimal touches of colour or a theme will do.
  • Don’t hesitate to go at any theme that you just love! We especially love the notion of sprinkle inspired decor like within our Baby collection.

Sip & Watch:

  • A sip & see is  a couple of hours carved out in the afternoon for family members and friends to stop by to meet with the baby and revel in light snacks and beverages. This is a fun event because the baby is already here and everyone has the chance to enjoy her or him.

  • Feel free to invite all your closest family and friends. Let them know that they are welcome for the hours of your choosing so that they can stop by if works best for them.
  • Sip & observes have a tendency to be quite casual — minimal decorations and light snacks, appetizers, cocktails, and other beverages.
  • It is considerate to not ask for presents, especially if you already had a baby shower. If someone wants to bring a gift by, it’s considerate to ask for necessities such as diapers.
  • Do feel free to ask guests to bring appetizers, but make it optional.
  • It’s probably best to sponsor a sip & see when the baby is a couple of months old. That way you are more settled in your home, have your baby in a regular and are much less stressed out.
  • Feel free to use any theme or decor design that you love! Two of our favorites for a Sip & See are Hello Handsome and Hello Gorgeous.
