6 Approaches to Faux Calligraphy for Your Wedding Place Cards

Faux calligraphy is basically the art of composing on your prettiest of cursive and filling in any downstrokes. You may write in your own handwriting, or even attempt to replicate another look you are fond of. In any event, practice makes perfect. (Before you begin on your location cards, we recommend practicing on scrap paper.) To get started, grab a pencil, a pencil with ink that will not bleed or smudge, paper, and a ruler. Now, let us take a look at the six steps to creating faux calligraphy.

Steps

  1. With pencil, lightly draw a straight line on your location card
  2. Compose names out in cursive in pencil, leaving some Excess space between the letters
  3. Add a parallel line to every downstroke
  4. Fill in the lines
  5. Allow location cards to dry completely
  6. Lightly erase pen line
