For anybody hosting a beach themed event, these DIY driftwood sailboats are just that extra dose of charm you’ve been looking for. These candy sailboats are in reality really easy to create and can be utilized in many different methods at your event! Thus we decided to make our own and share 3 of our favourite ways to show this off fairly job at your wedding. All you will need for this particular project is paper or cloth, scissors, hot glue, wooden dowels, a sharpie, not to mention driftwood (find your own at the regional beach or on the internet ). Keep reading to see the measures you’ll have to produce this undertaking and see our favourite thoughts!

1) Place Card Holder

Does not this sailboat create the cutest place card setting? With this idea, you are going to want to use paper instead of fabric for the sail so as to easily write out your guest names. To begin with , we folded a piece of paper in half (with the dowel in the centre ) and glued the two sides of newspaper together. When the paper was glued around the dowel, we cut the paper into a triangle shape. The sail was complete! We wrote a guest’s name across the sail and also added a bit of hot glue to the base of the dowel to stick it to the driftwood. You’re done! Simply place it along with your dining table setting to finish the look.

Cake Topper

These sailboats are just the right touch of nautical for a fresh white cake. We followed the very same instructions as above to create our own sailboats only this time instead of paper, we went with fabric. At the time that your ships are ready, simply set them in addition to the cake. We suggest two or three ships with this look.

Table Decorations

Of course, we can’t overlook decorations to bring a nautical or beach wedding tablescape into life. Feel free to mix it up using both cloth and paper for your sailboats and don’t be afraid to add an extra bit of flair. We used a sharpie to write”Ahoy” on one of our ships and used cloth and hot glue to adhere a center onto our fabric boat.

Maybe you have made driftwood sailboats before? How would you intend to use them at your wedding or any other event?
